Flu season is here, and we’ve got some ways to keep this tough virus at bay! Check out 4 recommendations below to help you stay healthy and strong.
- Eat better. Eating healthy, balanced meals provides our bodies with vitamins and minerals to power our immune systems to combat disease. Set a goal to make half your plate full of fruits and vegetables, which should be the core of your meal. Then add in protein, whole grains, and dairy to complete your plate.
- Stay hydrated. Hydration is essential to immunity! For convenience, keep a water bottle with you or at your desk to drink from throughout the day. Also, a serving of 100% juice each day helps keep you hydrated and provides an extra serving of fruits and/or veggies, depending on the variety.
- Wash your hands. Don’t forget to wash your hands before you eat, after using a public computer, or after touching a public/shared surface. Sanitizing certain objects that you use daily and washing your hands frequently can help to decrease the risk of getting flu germs in your body. Keep a pack of sanitizing wipes at your desk or in your purse, as well as a travel size bottle of hand sanitizer.
- Get a flu shot. Vaccinate yourself early before flu season is in full effect. Getting a flu shot does not completely prevent you from getting the flu, but it targets certain strains expected to be prevalent during each season. Plus it can save you a whole lot of sick days!
