Apple butter is an easy start to a sweet and tangy wing sauce.

  • 3 lbs. chicken wings, divided into wings and drums at the joint, discard wing tips
  • 2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. ground black pepper
  • ¼ cup apple butter
  • 1 Tbsp. packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp. dijon mustard
  • ¼ tsp. hot sauce

  1. Heat oven to 425°F.
  2. Toss wings with salt, garlic powder and pepper; place in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet. Bake 25-28 minutes, flipping half way, until wings are cooked through and starting to brown.
  3. Meanwhile whisk together apple butter, apple cider vinegar, mustard and hot sauce; set aside.
  4. Increase oven temperature to 450°F. Toss wings with apple butter sauce. Bake an additional 10-12 minutes until golden and sticky.
  5. Refrigerate leftovers.
