Description

Why should chicken wings get all the delicious fun? Give shrimp the buffalo treatment for a new game day favorite.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 lb 16/20 raw shrimp, tail-on, peeled and deveined
  • oil, for frying
  • ½ cup buffalo wing sauce
  • chunky blue cheese dressing
  • fresh celery sticks

Directions

  1. Set up a breading station by placing cornstarch, salt and pepper in a shallow bowl. In a second bowl beat together eggs and water. In a third bowl place breadcrumbs.
  2. Bread shrimp by first placing in cornstarch mixture, followed by egg and finally breadcrumbs, shaking off excess at each step. Repeat until all shrimp is breaded.
  3. In a wide, heavy bottom pot heat oil to 350°F.
  4. Fry shrimp, careful not to overcrowd pot, until golden brown, about 1-3 minutes. Remove to a plate lined with paper towels. Transfer to bowl, add wing sauce and toss to coat.
  5. Serve with blue cheese dressing and celery sticks. Refrigerate leftovers.
