Try this festive holiday cocktail with a kick!

  • ¼ cup Water
  • ¼ cup Sugar, granulated, divided
  • 1 tsp Sugar, granulated, divided
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Thyme Leaves, chopped
  • 2 oz Tonic, chilled
  • 1 oz 100% Organic Cranberry Juice
  • Crushed Ice, to fill glass
  • 1 sprig Fresh Thyme
  • 3 Cranberries
  • 1 tsp Powdered Egg Whites

  1. Simmer the water and ¼ cup sugar together in a small saucepan with the 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves and stir until sugar is dissolved. Allow the thyme to steep in the syrup while it cools to room temperature. Once cooled, strain and chill until you are ready to prepare the cocktail.
  2. Skewer the cranberries on a cocktail pick. Whisk 1 tablespoon water into the powdered egg whites and beat until frothy. Roll the cranberries in the egg white and then sprinkle with the remaining 1 teaspoon granulated sugar. Set aside while you prepare the cocktail.
  3. Fill a highball glass with crushed ice and pour in gin, ½ ounce thyme syrup and 1 ounce cranberry juice. Fill the glass with tonic. Add a sprig of fresh thyme and top with the cranberry garnish.

This drink can be made in a large batch by mixing the amount of gin, cranberry juice and thyme syrup you need for each drink multiplied by the number of cocktails you are planning to serve. Put the mixture into a pitcher and then serve over ice filled glasses, leaving room for tonic and pouring tonic over right before serving.

*The thyme syrup is also delicious in non-alchoholic ‘mocktails’ by making this recipe without the gin, or can be added to hot tea.
