Add a bit of sweet and heat to Dungeness crab on the grill by basting it with flavored butter.

  • 2 cooked Dungeness crab, cleaned and cut in half
  • 1 stick butter
  • 2 Tbsp. orange juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 tsp. chipotle chile powder
  • 1 tsp. garlic, finely minced
  • 1 Tbsp. flat leaf parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp. orange zest
  • ½ tsp. Kosher salt

  1. Heat grill: Gas grill to medium-high heat or charcoal until ashes are white. Cut 4 pieces heavy-duty foil (18”x12”). Place each crab half in the center of a piece of foil, cut side down. Wrap around edges, leaving the top open.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, mix together butter, orange juice, chile powder and garlic until fragrant and garlic softens. Remove from heat; add parsley, orange zest and salt.
  3. Pour butter over crab. Grill 12-15 minutes until crab is hot. To serve, transfer crab and butter drippings to serving plate.
  4. Refrigerate leftovers.
