Reinvent the classic lemon bar with a lavender crust.


  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp. dried lavender, chopped slightly
  • ¼ tsp. fine salt
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ tsp. baking powder
  • Powdered sugar, if desired


  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Line an 8” square pan with parchment paper allowing at least 2” overhang.
  2. In a bowl beat together butter, sugar, flour, lavender and salt until just combined. Press mixture in the bottom of prepared pan.
  3. Bake 15-17 minutes until edges just start browning.
  4. Meanwhile mix together sugar, flour, eggs, lemon juice and baking powder until well blended. Pour over hot crust and bake an additional 18-20 minutes or until just set.
  5. Allow to cool; remove from pan using parchment paper. Cut into bars and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
